Day 06 – A picture of a person you’d love to trade places with for a day

It may not be appropriate. But it’s true. The person I would like to trade places with for a day is myself. Not because I’m so cool. But because I’d like to talk to myself about something.

Everything Was Going Great

I had lost 78 lbs. My FBS was in line. I was running a lot. I was healthy. And right after this picture was taken, things changed. So if I could go back, I would talk to myself about it.

So What Happened?

Without trying to sound like SNL, I would say “You’re good enough. You’re smart enough. And gosh darn it, people like you.” And it would be the truth. I had just been interviewed by Georgia Public Television. My business was growing. And I was getting ready to run a half marathon. But then, I ran into some obstacles. I didn’t handle them well.

What Would I Say To Myself?

The first thing I would do is warn me about the people headed my way. They were all overweight, broke, and struggling. And yet, here they were telling me they had something that I really needed. Try this green stuff. Try this meal replacement shake. Don’t run anymore, but walk and to elliptical. It just didn’t register to me that the reason they were there is because I had been successful. They were wanting me to hawk their wares. We weren’t ‘meshing’ so to speak. So, I would close my ears to them…stay on MY path…and possibly still be in that healthy state. The second thing I would say is…

If You Injure Yourself, Stop And Recuperate

I fractured my ankle on mile 6 of a half marathon. I was running it with my daughter and didn’t want to stop. So I finished it. Big mistake. It’s never going to heal correctly. So I would tell myself NOT to do that. Do whatever it takes to stay healthy. Even if it means “NOT” being healthy for a little bit.

That’s IT

And there’s a benefit that I’ve picked up by using ME in this picture.

Now I know what I need to do to get back on track. Do the things that made me successful at it in the beginning.
